Lesotho Lowlands Water Development and Sanitation Project Phase III

DESCRIPTION

4D Climate Solutions is committed to the successful implementation of the Lesotho Lowlands Water Development and Sanitation Project Phase III, funded by the African Development Bank, through comprehensive community mobilization and sensitization efforts. The primary goal is to increase community awareness and build partnership and ownership for the project’s sustainability. By engaging communities in the Botha-Bothe and Leribe districts, 4D aims to ensure proper and effective involvement throughout the project life cycle, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility and collaboration among local stakeholders.

To achieve this, 4D is conducting thorough community needs assessments using surveys, focus groups, and interviews to understand the unique social, cultural, and environmental dynamics within the project area. This information informs customized public awareness programs that employ both traditional and digital communication channels. Additionally, 4D is providing capacity-building and training sessions for community leaders, local authorities, and other stakeholders, enhancing their understanding of the project and their roles in its implementation.

The project also involves developing a robust Stakeholder Engagement Plan and establishing a functional Grievance Redress Mechanism to address any concerns or grievances from community members promptly and effectively.

Furthermore, 4D is supporting the update and implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan to ensure that affected persons are properly compensated and their livelihoods are restored. This process involves conducting consultations with Project Affected Persons, establishing local decision-making bodies, and developing a comprehensive compensation and resettlement strategy. 4D is engaging in data collection, stakeholder engagement, and the development of a Compensation Information Management System to ensure accurate and transparent record-keeping. The aim is to mitigate adverse social impacts, support vulnerable groups, and ensure that the resettlement process is carried out fairly and efficiently. By integrating these resettlement efforts with the overall community mobilization and sensitization strategy, 4D aims to ensure the smooth implementation of the project and its long-term sustainability.
